 Ronnie Ryckman

I started like a lot of musicians..with a lot of passion and no money. Only for me, in the mid-70s, there were no women guitar players (that I knew of) in Oregon where I was raised. At the age of 16, I left home and played in an all girl band in Seattle named Shady Lady where I met my friend, Chrissy S. She was the only other girl guitar player I had ever met. Chrissy is awesome and still does incredible guitar work in the L.A. area.

After that experience, I hit the road in Nevada playing casinos and finally L.A. to join Kim Fowleys creation - Venus and the Razorblades. Kim also had the Runaways at that time. We had a great time playing awesome venus like The Whiskey, Gazzaris and the Starwood. I also played with a re-make of Steppenwolf and Spirit, shared stages with then start-up band Van Halen (we had mock fights in the dressing rooms to get fired up for the stage) Last I looked there were still some holes in the walls where the platform boots landed.

I went on the road one summer and ended up falling in love with Seattle and spending the next few years there in my band called the Ronnie Lee Group. There I played with many fabulous musicians and formed some lasting friendships as well as giving birth to my first child -Adam- in 1980. As well as my own band, I played with the former rhythm section for Heart in a band called "The Touch".

I moved to San Diego in 1984 and have played in different bands here. Occasionally I travel out but mostly I freelance on guitar and vocals here in San Diego. I now have a total of 3 fabulously talented and gorgeous children.
